Because of the continent’s large area, the climate
varies widely. Australia is divided into three different climate zones. The
northern part is located close to equator and it’s a part of the tropic zone,
with rainforests, high temperatures and moist air. The middle part and most of
the continent is located in the subtropical zone. Here we find a lot of large
deserts because of the high temperatures and dry air. The very southern part of
Victoria is located in the temperate zone. But since the southern part is
located near the subtropical zone, the climate here is defined to be Mediterranean
climate with dry and hot summers and mild and wet winters.
The annual range of temperatures and precipitation
varies a lot, depends on where in Australia you are located. The capital of
Australia: Canberra is located southeast in the state of New South Wales, with
a Temperate or Mediterranean climate. The hottest month is February with an average
temperature of 20, 95 °C. The coldest month is July with an average temperature
of 5, 75 °C. September is the wettest month in Canberra with an average of 65, 2 mm rainfall. The driest month is
June, with an average rainfall of 37, 9 mm.
Another large city in Australia is Darwin, which is
the largest city in the Northern Territory, with a tropical climate. The
hottest month is October with an average temperature of 29 °C, and the coldest
is July with an average temperature of 25 °C. The precipitations varies a lot
depends on the season. From June to August there is almost no rainfall. January
is the wettest month with an average rainfall of 431 mm.

ReplyDeleteNepal and Australia are quite similar in relation to the different climate zones including the subtropical and tropical zone. However, they differ in the respect that Australia has so many different zones because of the large land mass and opportunity for those different biomes. On the other hand, Nepal has different climate zones due to the rapid change in elevation between the Terai region and the Himalayan mountains.
ReplyDeleteAustralia and India are similar in relation to their large land areas and the different climate zones they are made up of. While India's climate in the north is more temperate, I found that climates in the south, as you get closer to the equator, become more tropical.
